St. Makari Unzhenski with a view of his monastery. Tempera on wood panel. The Holy Monk Saint Makari of Unzha (of the yellow waters) was the founder of an important medieval monastic centre at Zheltov Unzhenski, in north western Russia near the border with Finland, in the early 15th century.
