The milky white glass decorated with a lower band of simulated red foliage and inlaid in tones of purple, white and orange with three flowering crocuses with orange stamen and a bud. The foot applied with four leaf-form trails enclosing gold foil particles. Mark: Gallé. 44.5 cm high überlagernden, aufgeschmolzenen Plättchen und Fadenabschnitten in Bernstein, Violett, Weiß The crocus was one of the first themes employed by Gallé in his development of the marqueterie sur verre technique. A group of vases entitled "Les safrans d' Hiver" consisting of glassware adorned with red, mauve and amber crocuses on tall swaying stems, was illustrated in Art et Décoration in 1898.
