Clotilde de Surville. Bronze, braun patiniert. Auf quadratischer Plinthe stehende junge Frau mit gelösten Haaren, einen nackten Knaben auf ihrem linken Arm haltend. Gravierte Plakette auf dem Sockelrand "CLOTILDE de SURVILLE Ocher enfantelet vray pour traiel de son père / Dors sur le seyn que la bouche a presse / Dors petiot, closamy sur leseyn de ta mère / Tren doulx oeiller par le somme oppressé / CLOTILDE de SURVILLE 1421". Seitlich auf dem Sockelrand signiert "JEAN GAUTHERIN". Rückseitig auf dem Sockelrand Gießerstempel "REDUCTION MECANIQUE A. COLLAS BREVETE". Auf dem linken Sockelrand Gießerbezeichnung "F. Barbedienne. Fondeur. Paris". H. 34 cm Jean Gautherin erlernte zuerst das Holzschnitzerhandwerk. 1864 begann er ein Studium an der École des Beaux-Arts als Schüler von Charles-Alphonse-Achille Gumery, Paul Dubois sowie Alexandre Falguière und debütierte 1865 auf dem Pariser Salon mit einem Bronzemedaillon des docteur Simon Marx für dessen Grabmal auf dem Pariser Friedhof Père Lachaise. Bis 1890 nahm er jedes Jahr an den Ausstellungen teil und zeigte unter anderem 1868 eine Statue des Narziss, eine Büste seines Lehrers Gumery und 1870 eine Statue des Hl. Sebastian.
