A Fabergé smoky quartz and guilloché enamel charka. St. Petersburg, August Holmström (master 1857-1903), circa 1890. On three round feet. The round body set with red enamel on guilloche ground. Realistically carved and partial-polished smoky quartz handle. Small losses at lower border. Bottom stamped with assayer's mark with 88-standard, master's mark "AH" and company mark "FABERGE" in Cyrillic, scratched inventory number "54539". 13 cm long. Since 1857 Holström was head of Fabergé workshop in St. Petersburg. His workshop created the Fabergé copies of the Imperial regalia in a one- to ten-scale miniatures. - Smoky quartz is a kind of the quartz gemstones. It is much rarely than rock crystal.
