"Philipp Kittler 1861 Schwabach - 1944 Nürnberg Speerwerfer auf Rechtecksockel aus Marmor. Bronze braun patniert. Bez.: PH. KITTLER NÜRNBERG. Widmungsinschrift ""Dem Besten Willy Vogel"". H. 35 cm (38 cm mit Sockel) Philipp Kittler war Sohn eines Ofenfabrikanten. Nach der Ausbildung in Nürnberg und Hamburg widmete er sich ab 1887 der Bildhauerkunst. Figurengruppen, Zierbrunnen und plastischer Schmuck stehen in und an verschiedenen öffentlichen Gebäuden in Nürnberg. Besondere Anerkennung haben ihm das Bronzedenkmal König Ludwigs II. in Bamberg und die Trauernde Noris im Luitpoldpark gebracht. Siehe auch Fußnote zur Ausführung des Speerwerfers in Porzellan."
