Volkmann Juni 1889.". 41 x 44 cm bzw. 18,5 x 43,5 cm Von 1880 bis 1888 lernte Hans Richard von Volkmann bei verschiedenen Lehrern, darunter auch Eduard von Gebhardt, an der Akademie Düsseldorf, bis er schließlich 1888 an der Akademie Karlsruhe Gustav Schönlebers Meisterschüler wurde, zu welcher Zeit auch das vorliegende Werk entstand. Ab 1892 war er in Karlsruhe als selbstständiger Künstler tätig und blieb bis zuletzt dort ansässig.
