Meissen, circa 1745 Muschelrippen. S-Henkel mit Frauenbüste und Akanthusblattrelief. Der birnförmig gebauchte Handle with woman bust and relief with acanthus leaf. Jug framed with abundant relief decor: two nymphs accompanied by a putto riding on a dolphin, a sea horse, a crab, another dolphin, fishes and sea shells swimming on water surface, above two flying grey herons. Cover with modellized sea shells. Rim with floral gilded bordure and silver-gilt mount. Bottom with blue underglaze manufactory mark. 28 cm high Schwertermarke. H. 28 cm Possibly this rare water jug belongs to the porcelain collection of Heinrich Count of Brühl (1700-1763). The remarkable decor with mythological water scenes and grey herons is stylistically convenient with the design of the so called 'Schwanenservices' of the late baroque era. This was made by the Meissner Manufactory in order of Heinrich count of Brühl which was designed by J.J.
