Älterer Musikant in blauem Frack und Zylinderhut, die Geige in seiner Linken und einen Krug in seiner Rechten haltend, an einem Tisch sitzend. Neben ihm auf einem Hocker eine Gitarre. Das Fenster links wirft Tageslicht in die Genredarstellung mit detailreicher Interieurwiedergabe. Unten rechts signiert "Kern H". Gerahmt. Verso handschriftlich bezeichnet "La reproduction est reservée", "Intermezzo" (Titel?) mit Monogramm, rotem Lacksiegel mit Initialen HK (des Künstlers?) und "Nr. 170". 46,5 x 31,5 cm Der ungarische Portrait- und Genremaler studierte in Budapest, Wien, Düsseldorf und in München. Seit 1866 ist sein Werk auf Ausstellungen in Budapest vertreten. In den 1880er Jahren zog es ihn in seine Wahlheimat Wien. Lit.: Thieme/Becker, Bd. 19/20, S. 179.
