Buying Guide

Our Catalogue

Our richly illustrated catalogues are produced for every auction to provide information on each individual lot to be offered. All catalogues are also available online. The catalogues include thorough descriptions, literary reference notes and estimated selling prices for each lot. Furthermore they contain information on the particular auction, viewing dates and times, instructions for bidding and the conditions of sale.
To arrange purchase of a catalogue or subscription, please contact the department or order your catalogue online. In December/January we send to all clients our flyer which includes all details for the catalogue subscription. A catalogue subscription entitles you to receive every catalogue or all catalogues in a given category (European Glass, Arts & Antiques, Russian Art) at a saving off the cover price. Subscriptions last for one year. With a catalogue subscription you never miss an opportunity.

Viewing

Attend our free pre-auction viewing. During the week preceding an auction, you will have the opportunity to view and thoroughly inspect each item in our showrooms. Our experts will be pleased to answer any questions you may have about the lots.

Condition reports

Once you have found an item you are interested in bidding for, you can obtain
a comprehensive condition report from our experts emailing or telephoning them.

Please notice that condition reports for objects valued lower than 500,- Euro
we have to invoice 15,- Euro
which has to be paid in advance.

Conditions of sale

All prospective buyers are reminded that they are bound by our conditions of sale.

Bidding

Before you are able to bid on an item, you have to register for the sale. First-time bidders must also provide credit information (including bank name, bank contact, account number and phone number). If you plan to attend the sale and bid in person, you should register with the bidding department.

There are four possibilities to bid with us:

1.) In Person: To bid in person, you will need to register for and collect a numbered bidder paddle before the auction begins. Please remember to bring government-issued proof of identity, such as a driving license or passport, with you. In addition, you may be asked to provide a bank reference.

2.) Absentee Bids: If you are unable to attend the auction in person, we will be happy to execute written bids on your behalf. You may use the Absentee Bidding Form to indicate the item upon which you wish to bid and the maximum bid amount you are willing to make. Completed absentee bid forms should be returned to us at least 24 hours before the sale.
When we execute an absentee bid on your behalf, the lot will always be bought for the lowest increment that exceeds all competing bids and which meets or exceeds the reserve price. In the event of identical bids, the earliest received will take precedence. Successful absentee bidders will receive an invoice after the auction.

3.) Telephone Bids: You may also use the Absentee Bidding Form to register for telephone bidding regarding objects with an estimate over 300 Euro. Based on the information you provide on the form, we will contact you from the saleroom prior to your specified lot(s) and will relay your bids to the auctioneer. It is necessary to make arrangements for this service 24 hours before the sale. Each telephone bid is already a bid at the level of the catalogue price, even if the bidder is unavailable at the time of sale. Successful telephone bidders will receive an invoice after the auction.

4.) Online bidding: Please find following different online platforms.
Please note there will be a live-bidding fee (3 % on hammer price).

After Auction Sale

Unsold objects are on post-auction sale for two weeks. Please look at the online results that will be published after the sale.

[Translate to English:] Folgerechtsabgabe

Payment

The price you pay is the amount at which the auctioneer's hammer falls (the hammer price), plus a buyer's premium of 30% ( including V.A.T.). An exception are lots with an asterisk * before the catalogue number. They are to be sold with V.A.T. and are calculated in line with standard taxation, i.e. statutory turnover tax (currently 19 %) is levied on the bid price plus 28% premium.
If parties participating in an auction take purchased items into foreign countries themselves, they will be reimbursed the turnover tax as soon as Auktionshaus Dr. Jürgen Fischer has the export and acquirer certificate.
You may pay with cash, check, PayPal or wire transfer.

Artist´s Resale Right (Droit de Suite)

To compensate for the legal resale right (§26 UrhG), the auctioneer pays a fee on the sales proceeds. The buyer bears half of the tax rate applicable to the accounting period. These fees can be requested after billing has already taken place.

Pick up and Delivery

Upon payment, you may pick up your purchases at our auction location or arrange to have them shipped. If you wish we will also arrange shipping on your own risk and cost. Your shipping fees will be included on your invoice.

Shipping costs

All purchases should be picked up or shipped within three weeks after the auction. Any purchases that have not been collected within three weeks from the date of the invoice will be subject to handling and storage charge at 1 Euro per lot per day.

Please notice that if your invoice amount is higher than 1000,-€ and your shipping address is outside the EU an export document is necessary. For the preparation of this document we calculate 25,-€.
