Press Release Preview „Art, Antiques and Design“
Sale on 9th May 2009

Dr. Fischer is pleased to present European Art, Antiques and Design. The sale is going to take place in Heilbronn (Germany) on 9th May.

Among the highlights of the offering of Porcelain is a Meissen Teapot made around 1725, designed by Jakob Irminger depicting Chinese-Scenes painted by A. Seuter. The pot attests highest quality and craftsmanship. It is estimated to sell for 22.000 €.

Among the items on offer is a rare Porcelain-Group “the baged pigeon” made around 1775 in the Höchst-Porcelain-Manufactory, designed by Johann Peter Melchior. It is estimated to bring 8.000 €.

Highlighting the Porcelain of the Art Nouveau is a “Fashion Lady” designed by Konrad Hentschel and worked out in Meissen before 1924. It is estimated to sell for 2.700 €.

Also included in the May sale are several Dancers by Goldscheider.

The offering will also feature a Proskau tankard (late 18th century) depicting a walking trombone-player (Estimate 2.200€) as well as a tankard depicting John the Baptist (Salzburg, Jocob Pisotti the Elder, last quarter of the 18th century/Estimate 6.500 €) and a tankard depicting different allegories (Workshop Obermillner, around 1700/Estimate 6.000 €).

Other highlights include a collection of Bunzlau, Waldenburg and Westerwald stoneware-tankards as well as a little collection of rare Transylvanian tin tankards.

Chief among the silver section of the sale is a large “Splendour-Tankard” depicting emblem of the brewer guild (Vienna, around 1880). It is made of brass and bronze mounted horn. That rare tankard is estimate to sell for 35.000 €.
Another silver-masterpiece is a Breslau Renaissance-tankard (late 16th century), which depicts a fine religious iconography: Saint George, who is killing the dragon, the Saint Margarethe with the attributes cross and book. That tankard weigh 425 gram and is estimated at 7.500 €.

The Modern design portion of the sale is highlighted by a „Tube Chair“ by Joe Colombo, made in 1969. It is estimated to sell for 3.800 €.

Also featured is a painting by John McCracken (watercolour/gouache), which is estimated to sell for 3.600 €.
