Highlights:
A six piece silver parcel-gilt and shaded enamel service (Moscow, Gustav Klingert, 1898). The surface decorated with floral and geometric patterns in red, white, blue and turquoise surrounded by pellet borders. Tax: 3.800 Euro
A large silver and cloisonné enamel kovsh (Moscow, Feodoer Rückert, 1896-1908). The circular bowl and hook handle decorated in shaded opaque polychrome enamel foliage on olive green ground flanked by two double headed eagles. The green border beneath the rim set with seven coloured cabochons. The hook handle decorated with two peacocks and set with one cabochon. Tax: 5.500 Euro
A jewelled gold and enamel scent bottle (Fabergé, probably Henrik Wigström, St. Petersburg, 1896-1908). The surface of the ovoid body and the circular cushion-form capped with rose-cut diamond finial of translucent pink enamel over banded chevron enginge-turning. The collar with running laurel. Tax: 6.500 Euro.
An representative silver-gilt caviar pot with cover (Moscow, Antip Iwanowitsch Kusmitschew, 1882). The surface embossed with an architectural view of the Kremlin in Moscow. Beneath the lid Cyrillic inscription. The cover finely engraved with a strap work cartouche with monogram and date "15 Januar 1886" on trompe l'oeil ground. Gilt interior. Colourless glass inset. Tax: 3.800 Euro.
A Portrait of a Lady by Nicolai I. Fechin, ca. 1908. Tax: 28.000 Euro. Nicolai Fechin was born in 1881 in Kazan/Russia. At the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg he studied with Ilya Repin and Filipp Malyavin. In 1909 he graduated with the highest grade possible and his final competitive canvas won him the Prix de Rome, a travelling scholarship, that allowed him to roam the artistic capitals of Europe in 1910. Within this year he first began exhibiting his art in USA. In 1910 he was a founder of the Commune of Artists, and he exhibited with the Itinerants from 1912 to 1922 and with the Academy of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AKhRP) from 1922 to 1926. In 1923 he emigrated to the United States and landed in New York. His portraits were in demand immediately and he won the first prize at the Academy in New York in 1924 and a medal at the 1926 International Exposition in Philadelphia. Fechin became well-known for his powerful portraits that always seemed to radiate from the eyes of the subject. Some of his more renowned subjects are Nikolai Lenin, Karl Marx, Frieda Lawrence and Lillian Gish.
